You have a story to tell

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” 1 Pet. 3:15

You have a story that needs to be told. Yes, you. In fact you have many stories we need to hear. Our natural tendency is to diminish our experiences telling ourselves what we have lived through isn’t unique or inspiring; however, the stories that impact us most are those of regular people doing ordinary things experiencing the extraordinary faithfulness of God.

God is writing your story and within that story are many chapters. There are chapters of heartache and sorrow as well as joy and victory. In the midst of each one is a common thread– something to learn about Jesus. We just need eyes to see it. More reliance upon Him. More love for Him. More intimacy with our Savior.

Stories are powerful because they allow us to see up close and personal the reality of God in a situation. They also help us to have that “me too” moment when we see the Lord working in the life of another and applying that same truth to ours.

2015 was a doozy for us. Our little family grew, our house flooded, we moved twice, our adoption was delayed and then finalized, a surgery was prepared for and then cancelled, and we are waiting to get back into our remodeled/repaired house.

I’ve shared a few of these stories on this blog for a couple of reasons. It’s the stuff we are in the middle of that become our greatest teachers. There is so much the Lord needed to teach me. We have learned He is dependable and faithful over and over again. In the end it’s not what we have gone through, it’s what we have learned in the midst of it all that really matters.

Where have you seen the hand of God recently? I’m certain you could tell me a story about how you have seen the Lord carry you through a difficult situation in the last few months. When we step out and share what God has done, so many things happen simultaneously. Our faith is strengthened, our love for the Lord grows and others are encouraged in their own journey. It’s a WIN-WIN-WIN.

This is why I love being a part of Sacred Story. Our hope through this site is that women will be encouraged in their journey by sharing stories of God’s faithfulness. Have you checked out our library? We have over 60 stories that will grow your faith! Read them, share them and pray about submitting one. Reflect over all that the Lord has done in your life and consider writing. You won’t have to do it alone. We will help you with the process with editing and encouragement! Leave a comment for me below if you are considering doing so and we will be in touch.

Check out a few of my favorites written by my friends Wynne, Lincee and Elizabeth.  I can’t wait to share more with you as we have more powerful stories to share in February.

We would also love to stay in touch. To receive our blog posts via email you can subscribe on the home page on the right margin.

Here’s to a New Year and to many, many more stories shared in 2016!

I love to tell the story
of unseen things above,
of Jesus and his glory,
of Jesus and his love.
I love to tell the story,
because I know ’tis true;
it satisfies my longings
as nothing else can do.

I love to tell the story,
for those who know it best
seem hungering and thirsting
to hear it like the rest.
And when, in scenes of glory,
I sing the new, new song,
’twill be the old, old story
that I have loved so long.

I love to tell the story,
’twill be my theme in glory,
to tell the old, old story
of Jesus and his love.
