Sacred Story’s Library of Inspiring Women’s Stories
Sister we are in this together. Our library contains encouraging stories from women who, like you, walk through chapters of questioning, grieving, loving, hoping, and surrendering. We pray you will pass on stories because hope is contagious. Our Teaching Moments offer perspective about living your story in light of God’s Word. We love to hear how you are impacted by what you read.

Marks of Gratitude
For I bear on my body the scars that show I belong to Jesus. (Galatians 4:17, NLT) It’s hard—to feel grateful especially when we find ourselves in the middle of suffering. Many of us who understand suffering and pain often carry the scars to prove it. There are many...
Giver of Good Gifts
Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, James 1:17a, NLT This season God has been teaching me about Himself as the giver of good gifts. I must admit that this has been refreshing after receiving teachings and life experiences on God using...
When Gratitude Feels Impossible
My soul waits in silence for God only. Psalm 62:1 I have several friends who lost a parent this year. As the holidays loom, they are bracing themselves for the many “firsts”: without Mom, making the turkey, staying home instead of sleeping at her house. The ache is...
Renewing Gratitude
“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” ( I Thess. 5:18, NLT) God, I need a fresh word on gratitude. After all, I’ve heard about this topic many times in my Christian life. And do believe gratitude is vital to a...
Holding My Breath
Pat's Story: It seems far away now but my story starts with a headache, a really bad headache. Then followed the doctors, the meds, the hospital, the MRIs. Time seemed to move so very fast, and then suddenly, Easter Sunday 2005, my world screeched to a halt. We sat...
Free Falling
Claudia’s* Story: Have you ever been paragliding?" asked my sister-in-law. "No," I laughed. She proceeded to share her recent experience paragliding off the coast of California. YouTube filled in what I couldn't imagine. I sat; open-jawed and wide-eyed watching the...
From Wheelchair to WOW
Mary’s story: Most people find it hard to believe that 10 years ago, I was in a wheelchair, barely able to lift my arm to feed myself or brush my teeth. Today, I'm living a healthy, normal life, working full-time, enjoying endless possibilities. But back then, I was...
God, Why Won’t You Heal?
Ginna’s Story: A little over 7 years ago my world was forever sweetly rocked when Grace Anne came into this world. In the midst of having a very difficult time getting pregnant, God truly woke me up in the middle of the night (a first time, for sure) with the verse...
Finding My Security
Joye’s Story: My husband, Don, and I met and married in San Diego, CA in 1971. After our wedding, we moved to his small hometown of Borger in the Texas Panhandle so that he could join his Dad in the road construction business. We lived lifestyles that reflected the...
Suicide Impacted My Family
Elizabeth’s Story: I haven’t written about Matt in almost twenty years. My charming, gifted older cousin committed suicide when I was 22 and he was a young lawyer on the brink of his successful life. When the phone rang, I picked it up at my parents’ house. “Matt’s...
Losing My Sister’s Friendship
Jordan’s* story: I’d seen the sad movies, and sat across many a cafe table from a teary-eyed young woman suffering from a broken heart. Happily married to my pastor husband for over 20 years, and raising three teenagers, I considered myself officially clear of any...
High Heels For Flip-Flops
Priscilla’s Story: “Reporting live in downtown Houston, Priscilla Goodwin, Back to you.” As a former television reporter in Houston, I sometimes miss saying that, especially when I see breaking news on TV. Now, as a stay-at-home mom of two little girls, my life is...
