Sacred Story is a women’s ministry offering hope by sharing Christ-centered stories which impart the gospel and impact lives around the world. We are committed to designing the retreats to prayerfully provide a safe place to reflect on a woman’s unique story in the context of God’s epic story of redemption.

Who is this retreat for? A woman who is experiencing Jesus Christ make a difference in her life and who wants to know her community better.

How much writing skill is needed? Writing is the vehicle for creating space to meditate on God’s faithfulness. This retreat is designed for nonwriters and support is given along the way.

Why is it important for a woman to write her story with others? A story is a powerful way to be known and share hope. When women reflect and write together, space is created for deeper friendships as women realize they are not alone. We have witnessed time and again how the experience of writing in community brings healing and gives women courage to share their stories on a greater level.

How much is the organizer(s) involved in preparation? The organizer(s) prepare for the retreat by inviting, finding a place, and communicating with your community about the retreat logistics. The host(s) also connects with a Sacred Story consultant virtually so we can guide you to make the most of your retreat experience.

How much is the organizer(s) involved during the retreat? The organizer(s) act as the facilitators to welcome and set the tone throughout the day (or this role can be delegated to other retreat attendee). The host(s) oversees the pace and flow guided by 7 Sacred Story videos which provide the direction, structure, and content of your retreat.

What does the day involve? Our retreat success is based on the thoughtful blend of reflection time and opportunities to get to know your community better. Retreat activities include: The Gospel Heals and Frees devotional time, small group sharing, overview of the writing process, personal writing time, creating story boards, and connecting with women on their faith journeys.

What does the cost cover? The expense covers retreat supplies totaling $20 including the gift of a Sacred Story guided journal with Scripture for each participant. The other part of the expense covers Sacred Story’s agenda, framework, and content. A portion of the fees received is donated to reach refugees overseas who originate from Muslim countries.

What if a woman who writes her story wants help in editing it after the retreat? We love to help a sister polish up and finalize her story! This process includes a consultation and copy edits which requires an average of 2.5 hours. Select “schedule a call” and then select “using our story resources” and we’ll come alongside a woman in her desire to have her story in a final form she can share feel comfortable about sharing with others.

Does a virtual retreat work?
We wondered how virtual would work and are delighted to hear feedback from women who enjoy the time and even want to keep going! The great thing about the virtual experience is women from different parts of the state/country/world come together. There is also an option of your community meeting in person and Sacred Story facilitators join your group, one facilitator in person and the remainder via video content.

What does the day involve?
Our retreat success is based on the thoughtful blend of reflection time and opportunities to get to know your community better. Retreat activities include: The Gospel Heals and Frees devotional time, small group sharing, overview of the writing process, personal writing time, one-on-one coaching, creating story boards, and connecting with women on their faith journeys. The retreat lasts 6.5 hours with a lunch break.

Can the “day” be split up?
Yes, we can split the time into two consecutive days with about 3 hours each of retreat activities if that time frame works best for your community.

What does the cost cover?
The cost covers retreat supplies of $30 including a gift of a Sacred Story guided journal with Scripture. The other part of the expense covers Sacred Story’s time, agenda, framework, and content. Additionally, the time spent on finalizing a woman’s story after the retreat by completing copy edits is also covered in the cost (average time is 2 hours). A portion of the fees received is donated to help reach refugees overseas who originate from Muslim countries.
