Sacred Story’s Library of Inspiring Women’s Stories

Sister we are in this together. Our library contains encouraging stories from women who, like you, walk through chapters of questioning, grieving, loving, hoping, and surrendering. We pray you will pass on stories because hope is contagious. Our Teaching Moments offer perspective about living your story in light of God’s Word. We love to hear how you are impacted by what you read.

When Restorative Justice is not Possible

"But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream." (Amos 5:24) I am grateful for the efforts that are happening today for victims and offenders of crime to experience healing and reconciliation. When I worked as a licensed...

I Didn’t Think I Needed to Change

Amanda's Story: I've always been a perfectionist. In first grade I had a huge stack of unfinished worksheets in my desk because I didn't want to turn them in until they were flawless. I grew up believing that if I worked hard enough at something, I would excel at it....

Thoughts on shopping, drinking and other touchy subjects

"Walk by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." Gal. 5:16 Howard Hendricks, my favorite seminary professor, wisely said, "You need to say no to something every day." When is the last time we said no to: getting the last word, indulging in extra...

Cursing My Cancer

Cursing My Cancer

Geneva's Story: I was diagnosed with colon cancer in my late 40’s after having a colonoscopy. A picture of the tumor was given to me and the doctor explained that the tumor was too large to remove during the procedure because it was the size of an orange. Surgery was...

Security Systems

“If you make the most high your dwelling – even the LORD, who is my refuge – then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.” Psalm 91:9-10 We go to great lengths to secure our homes and possessions with sophisticated security systems. We carefully...

Boundaries

“The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.” Psalm 16:6 I don’t know about you, but drawing boundaries with my time or in relationships is a constant challenge. Presented with many good needs and opportunities, it...

Do Your Boundaries Love or Self-Protect?

“Hatred stirs up conflicts, but love covers all offenses.” (Proverbs 10:12) “What is love? Baby don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me. No more.” As I have been reflecting on what to write about love this month, I cannot get this high school song from Haddaway out of my head!...

Unseen Battles During Easter

Singleness and the Sovereignty of God

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,"declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9 I struggle with singleness. While I am...

Marriage and Obedience

I admit, I wanted to be married. I jumped right in with an amateur’s mindset. I had loads of energy and enthusiasm and a desire to actively love, but once I hit a few bumps, I realized marriage is no joke. Life, work, unmet expectations, commitments, and demands all...

Marriage: Bunny slopes and double blacks

“I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” Romans 7:18 NIV How in the world does this verse relate to marriage? Couldn’t I have picked the more lovely wedding verses from I...
