Sacred Story’s Library of Inspiring Women’s Stories

Sister we are in this together. Our library contains encouraging stories from women who, like you, walk through chapters of questioning, grieving, loving, hoping, and surrendering. We pray you will pass on stories because hope is contagious. Our Teaching Moments offer perspective about living your story in light of God’s Word. We love to hear how you are impacted by what you read.

Befriending Loss

"Against its will, all creation was subjected to God's curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God's children in glorious freedom from death and decay."  Romans 8:20-21 I am unpacking boxes and sorting stuff as I make a move...

The Most Important Prayer of Surrender

"Going a little ahead, he fell on his face, praying, 'My Father, if there is any way, get me out of this. But please, not what I want. You, what do you want?'” -Matt. 26:39 (The Message) Fresh from celebrating Easter, I continue to ponder what it meant for Jesus to...

The Final Surrender

Three days ago we celebrated Jesus’ victory over death and His opening wide the gates of heaven. We tried to linger with Him in Gethsemane on Thursday, and not hide our eyes when He was nailed to the cross on Friday. We sat by the tomb and we waited. On Sunday, we ran...

When Surrendering Requires A Plan

“The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” – Proverbs 21:5 (NIV) I’ve had moments in my life in which surrendering meant sobbing at my kitchen sink, snot across my face, hands in the air, saying, “I know you have this, God.” Okay,...

Adoption & My Wilderness

Adoption & My Wilderness

Di's* Story: I spent the last summer of my college years on a mission trip to China. Witnessing firsthand a culture where the girls are undervalued, and even abandoned in the hopes of having a baby boy, the Lord gave me a heart and vision for adoption. A few years...

Never Surrender!

But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by...

The Cross: My White Flag

“That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10 Almost every great war movie ends with a white flag raised by the defeated. The drum beats...

Picture Surrender

"So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his." -Hebrews 4:9-10

Surrendering to Goodness

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.  (Psalm 23:6) After I delivered my first son in 2012, I developed health issues.  I had horrible headaches that were debilitating.  I could not get...

Paying Bills & Giving Up

I added up the bills lying on my table. The pressure mounted as the number climbed higher and higher. The combination of unexpected medical expenses and my monthly needs left me nervous about my inability to cover the sum. Normally, I might have worried, complained...

Free to Run

"I run in the path of your commands for you have set my heart free." Ps. 119:32 What separates Christianity from all other world religions is the fact that man is not enslaved to a merit-based system where performance determines favor. Every other religion seeks to...

Panna Cotta with Roasted Lemon and Irish Whiskey Sauce

If you know any Italian words or have eaten at an Italian restaurant, you may already know that panna cotta is not an Irish dessert!  It means, "cooked cream" and it's very similar to custard, but without any eggs.  I chose to share a recipe for a dessert this month...
